We often hear, "We can put men on the Moon but we can't make
a pair of pantyhose that won't run." That statement is, in fact, only partially true.
Manufacturers could make nylons that don't run, but you wouldn't want to wear them. All
they would have to do is add a vertical lock stitch in the weave of the
hose. This would stop them from running, but the extra fiber would
decrease the amount of stretch in the stocking making them very uncomfortable to wear. It
would also make them hotter to wear, already a complaint in the sheerest of hosiery.
Manufacturers can't do it! You might be thinking- "Why don't the
manufacturers use more elastic fibers when they make the hosiery in the first place?"
The reason is, they can't. In making the fiber elastic enough to resist running, the fiber
would be destroyed in the loom. Only RunProof enables you to trust your hosiery enough to
stop carrying extra pairs in your overfilled handbag.
Running occurs because of a physical flaw in nylon as a fiber itself.
It is very durable and strong for it's size, but will only stretch a certain amount until
it snaps. Once this snapping occurs, whether from a pull or an abrasion, the fabric runs
toward the top and bottom of the hose, because of the way they are woven in a circular
loom.
RunProof works by increasing the elasticity of the nylon fiber,
allowing it to stretch further without snapping, and making it nearly immune to abrasion.
The RunProof active ingredients actually becomes one with the original fiber, explaining
why they don't change the color or feel of the hose.
RunProof is Effective on All Hosiery whether you wear the more
expensive designer brands, which are produced on a fashion loom, or the less expensive
"drug store" brands produced on a tube loom. The differences between the two
types are obvious from the moment you begin to put them on. The designer product is loomed
on a form that's anatomically contoured to fit the leg, while the less expensive product
has much less contouring, primarily because of the elasticity of the nylon fibers
themselves.
The Designer Nylons are usually manufactured with smaller denier (thinner) nylon for a
sheerer appearance than the drug store brands. Conversely, the drug store brands could not
be manufactured from fiber as thin as that used in Fashion Brands. Thinner fibers are not
able to take the stretching necessary to effectively fit in the tube-loomed hosiery, hence
the universal quality difference between the two general types. Of course the flip side of
that coin, the designer hosiery is considered to be more fragile and prone to runs than
the more common product.
RunProof changes the balance of pros and cons in the equation
RunProof treats the fiber of the nylon directly, strengthening the fiber and reinforcing
the weave, it actually improves the physical characteristics of the fashion-loomed hose,
making them more durable. You now have the option to wear sheerer, cooler, better fitting
and more comfortable hosiery at No Higher Cost, since they last so much longer.
Taken on balance, RunProof represents a significant advance in the hosiery industry,
targeted specifically at the wearer. It's easy to use, inexpensive and simplifies the life
of the nylon hosiery wearer to the point that nylons become and investment, not a
disposable expense.
How to Use RunProof
Wash nylons with fabric wash (new nylons must be washed before treating).
Pour one capful of RunProof into three (3) cups of warm water. Do not over-dilute. Rinse cap after use.
Submerge and swish 1-3 pairs of nylons. Soak for 5-10 minutes.
Squeeze (do not rinse) and line dry (do not dry in an automatic clothes dryer).
Discard unused RunProof, rinse bowl and mixing area.
For best results, RunProof must be used after each washing.
